How to reset the Brother DR2510 Drum Counter
When installing a new Brother DR2510 drum unit, your printer may not automatically recognise the replacement. As a result, the display could continue to show “Replace Drum”, even with a new drum installed. This applies to both genuine Brother drums and compatible alternatives. To continue printing, the printer’s internal drum counter must be reset.
The reset process is straightforward and works across most DR2510-compatible Brother printers. Please note, if the previous drum was used before resetting, print quality may decline earlier during the next usage cycle.
How to Reset Your Brother DR2510 Drum Unit
Follow the steps below carefully. Make sure your printer is powered on before starting.
-
Turn on the printer
Ensure the printer is powered on. Depending on your model, the front cover can be open or closed. -
Open the front cover
This exposes the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. -
Leave the toner in the drum
Do not remove the toner from the drum. The toner must remain in place for the reset to work. -
Press the Menu button
-
For models like HL-L2310D / HL-L2350DW:
Press Menu → # (or Machine Info) → Drum -
For older or manual models: Hold the OK button for a few seconds until the display shows “Drum Reset?”
-
-
Confirm the reset
Press 1 (Yes) or OK to reset the drum counter. The warning message “Drum End Soon” or “Replace Drum” should disappear. -
Close the front cover
The printer is now ready for normal operation, with the drum counter reset to zero.
Regardless of the model of the printer, if you have followed the above guides you should now be able to print again. You can now continue to use the DR2510 drum unit in conjunction with the or high capacity TN2510 XL toner cartridge, until the “Replace Drum or “Drum End Soon” message appears again.
